Week 6: Question

School Trip

Homework: Read another 100 pages of your book by Monday 9/22

I walked into class, took my seat, and took out my English notebook, binder reminder, and pencil case. I wrote down the agenda and turned to Ms. Nakada. She read Noexi's blog and asked if anyone wanted to write today's blog. I immediately shot my hand up, because I love to write. We did the blog corrections and then Ms. Nakada told us to take out our English Notebooks. The question for this week is, "What are some ways to celebrate Latiné Heritage Month?" Ms. Nakada wrote, "Read up on the history of a people, explore culture- food, traditions, religion, music, dance, art..." She explained how we can be more authentic in our celebration of culture, and there are appropriate ways and inappropriate ways to celebrate culture. The class brainstormed more ideas of how to celebrate heritage.

After we finished the question, Ms. Nakada told us to pull out our A.C.E. papers to finish, followed by unhappy groans from the class. She gave us an example of an A.C.E. paragraph, and left us to work on the assignment independently. After about ten minutes, Ms. Nakada told us to read if we are done with our A.C.E, and she is going to call everyone's name. For each name she calls, they have to tell her the book they are reading for the book project, and which project they are doing. Ms. Nakada told us to do our reader's workshop while she is calling peoples' names. Before I knew it, we were putting our chairs up to get ready to leave, and the school day had come to an end.
