Createober Day 6
Week 9: Grammar/Quote
The Outsiders/ School Trip
HW: finish The Outsiders by Monday
I walked into class, not knowing I was going to get picked for the blog. I knew I had to go eventually because I was one of the last ones to get picked, but my friends chanting my name wasn't helping. After I got picked, there was an announcement on the speaker that we were doing a shelter in place drill, so anyone outdoors had to go indoors. We then started to work on Createober. After we were done with Createober, we started taking notes on how a story goes which has a characters conflict, setting, rising action, climax, and resolution. We also took notes on a quote that goes,"Banning books gives us silence when we need speech. It closes ears when we need to listen. It makes us blind when we need sight." by Stephen Chbosky.
We then started to have a conversation about book banning, and how some countries don't allow freedom of speech. We also talked about "tank man," which happened in China about 50 years ago, and how he was protesting by standing in front of four tanks. We also started to talk about how we are losing our freedom of speech. An example of this is ICE which is arresting people for protesting against it and how Jimmy Kimmel stopped making jokes about Donald Trump. After this Ms. Nakada told us to pack up, the bell rang and we left.
