week 8: question
lit. circle essays
It was another Wednesday at Emerson. After fifth period, my sixth period students started to make their way into class.
We watched / listened to the take-a-minute, and then Olivia and Christian came up to read the blog. It was quite detailed, funny, and only mildly mean. It was over 700 words! And almost perfect, so it earned a point and we will be doing pizza on Friday.
They chose me as the next blogger, thus, I am here, writing this blog.
Class moved along, and we discussed the idea of gender equity in our schools. The conversation was mostly thoughtful and relatively gender balanced.
Once we wrapped up answering the question about gender equity in schools, I reviewed the checklist for essays and how to format papers with heading and title alignment, double-spacing, and standard font choices. Then, students got to work typing, revising, and editing their hard work. As they shared their essays with me, I printed them, students stapled them, and turned completed work in.
Class came to a close in a flurry of papers, printing, sharing, and some panic. I dismissed students who turned in essays, spoke with students who weren't yet done with their essays, and then we all left for the day.
Who wants to do the blog today?
