NaPoWriMo: catch up!

HW: Read and write a poem a day!

I walked into class questioning why Ben was walking weird. I took my seat and I took out my agenda to start writing. Joell turned around and it looked like he was almost fully turned around so I reacted. Then Ms. Nakada said for the class to quiet down and told me to spit out my gum. After I spit out my gum, Jack and Hudson came up to read their blog. They read the blog and after doing blog corrections, Jack had the bright idea to choose me, which I wasn't too happy about.

I brought my stuff up to the desk, and I asked Angelina if she wanted to do the blog with me. We both took our seats and listened to the song that was being played. The song this week was "Garden Song" by Phoebe Bridger. After the song played, Ms. Nakada then explained what the song was about and what it connects to. Ms. Nakada started asking questions also. The song was about growing up and figuring out what you want in life. The tone of the song was mellow, steady, and constant change.  We then started writing our favorite lyric from the song.

We turned to our NaPoWriMo page for the poem we will read. The poem we read today was "Dinosaurs in the Hood" by Danez Smith. This poem was about movie and how race is depicted in films. The next poem was "The Eagle" by Alfred Lord Tennyson. This poem is about an Eagle ready to fly. We then started our fourth poem, since we are still catching up. The poem we had to write today was about friends or safety.

After we were done with our poems, we packed up and the bell rang, and we left.
