Week 12: Grammar - Quote

HW: read and write a poem a day!


I walked into class and took my seat. Ms. Nakada told everyone what table they would sit in as they walked in, and once everyone settled down, she played the new take a minute. After that, she began to open Zoey and Norah's blog, but stopped once she realized that they had read it. She asked who they picked and I raised my hand because they picked me. I find it funny that they always pick me when they do a blog. They must have an obsession with me or something. I walked up to the front of the class. Hudson followed me because I asked him if he would write the blog with me. 

After that, we began to write down the grammar for this week, which was the things in our poetry toolkit. We talked about lyric poems, meter, line breaks, and enjambment. We then moved on to the quote, which was "Do not ignore the pain. Give it purpose. Use it." By Amanda Gorman. The quote meant that we shouldn't ignore our pain, but use it to heal and move on. 

WASSSUP YALL 

Anyways, after that, we then got out our packets to read some poems. The class agreed to read "Los Angeles" by Kamau Daa'ood. It's about Los Angeles, by not the way people always think. It's the hard truth, and talks about the real Los Angeles, and it's a very visual poem. After the run through, we went to page 26. This poem was HUGE, and I know dang well Olivia chose this poem on purpose. "FIELD TRIP TO THE MUSEUM OF HUMAN HISTORY" by Franny Choi.

"Folks, I'll only read it once." Ms. Nakada said. After reading the poem essay, we talked about what the poem was about. The poem was about freedom. All of those words, just for the meaning of the poem to be about freedom. ONE WORD. Then, we went to write our poems. We finished writing one and moved on to the next. And then the next. Wrote some poems, don't want to say what it is about because I'm cool like that, but the bell had rang, and Jack and I packed up, put chairs up, and left.
